Vahana Yoga, managed by Astrid Jirka, offers yoga classes in Ithaca, New York, as well as workshops, retreats and eco-tours in the U.S. and overseas. We focus on developing a healthy body and mind as well as just and peaceful communities connected to the natural world.

Community Yoga Class at Mighty Yoga - Sundays, 8:30-9:30 am
Slow Flow Hatha Yoga at Fine Spirit Studio - Tuesdays, 9:30-11 am
Power Hour at Mighty Yoga - Tuesdays and Fridays, 12 - 1 pm
Vinyasa Flow at Ithaca College Fitness Center - Tuesdays, 5-6pm and Thursdays 4-5pm
Badass Bandhas - at Mighty Yoga - November 4th, 2-3pm
Bandhas are badass and essential to an advanced yoga practice! They are areas in the body which can be modified to control energy and deepen your yoga poses. In this workshop, you'll learn about the 3 primary bandhas. You'll be given explanations of the physical and subtle anatomy involved, and will practice relevant pranayama (breath) techniques and asanas (poses) that demonstrate when and how best to use the bandhas in your yoga practice to take your yoga to the next level. Una clase de yoga en Español! Are you a Spanish speaker at some level or interested to learn more Spanish - while doing yoga? Join me and Nicole Costa, a Spanish and Yoga instructor, for an informative class that will teach you some Spanish vocabulary as you work through a gentle asana flow. Como se dice 'open your heart and lift your ribs'? Come find out! This class will be great for you if you're an English speaker getting ready for a yoga retreat in the Spanish speaking world or simply want to practice your Spanish while stretching your músculos for a good cause. Donations will go to the Barrio Planta Project in Nicaragua which provides education to under-served children and which is a beneficiary of the Costa Dulce Yoga Eco-Resort in Nicaragua where I will be hosting a yoga retreat from January 12th-19th, 2019. Costa Dulce means Sweet Coast in Español and that's what you'll be looking at from the yoga platform at this small and beautiful eco-lodge situated on a hillside next to its own beach in southern Nicaragua, on the Pacific Coast. With a variety of yoga offered every day, bountiful fresh air and a slower pace of life, you'll soon notice yourself winding down and finding a new daily rhythm. Your time may also include an excursion to a neighboring town, a volcanic lake, a hike to see monkeys in the vast natural park or activities such as turtle monitoring, paddle-boarding and surf lessons!
Practical Skills for Transforming the World and Yourself

Eco-Gap is an 8 week long Gap Year Program for young adults who are interested in spending time living at the internationally recognized Eco-Village Ithaca (EVI). EVI offers participants a chance to live with local residents to learn about the many dimension of living with a small ecological footprint, farming and food cultivation, personal wellness (including Yoga) and cooperative living and communication. Yoga and Fitness in the Outdoors! With a yoga mat in tow, learn a bit about the history and ecology of the Finger Lakes region of New York State. Tune your breath into the trees, give yourself a good stretch and practice exercises for renewable energy as Astrid leads you on a walk through this hidden gem of land. This is a fantastic way to explore the iconic and unique Finger Lakes while achieving a bit of physical and mental fitness. Hikes can be tailored to various groups and locations.
